The Vietnam - China Committee for Land Border Demarcation and Border Marker Planting holds the 11th Chairman-level Round

The Vietnam - China Committee for Land Border Demarcation and Border Marker Planting held their 11th Chairman-level Round in Hanoi from Feb 25th to March 4th.

The two sides reviewed and agreed that the pace of border demarcation and border marker planting had been accelerated and positive results had been recorded. Based on the agreement between the two chairmen of the Government delegations, the two sides assigned targets of demarcation and border marking in 2005 to joint working groups with priority given to 11 border gate areas. They also agreed on measures to speed up border demarcation and border marker planting. Joint working groups of Lai Chau, Lao Cai, and Ha Giang provinces of Viet Nam and Yunnan Province of China are to finish work in 2005. The two sides shared the view that in border marker planting, it is necessary to scrupulously implement agreements reached by high-level delegations, government delegations and the committee and at the same time maintain stability, cooperation and friendship along the Viet Nam-China border.

Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the Border Committee of Vietnam Vu Dung received the two delegations on March 3rd. China’s Ambassador to Viet Nam Qi Jianguo was also present at the reception.

The two sides agreed to hold the 12th Round in China in late April 2005./.
